Beautiful baby Rori Lynn

Katie and Nick welcomed their beautiful brand new baby, Rori, into the world last Sunday. She is so teeny and delicate. Geoff and I gave the new parents a MEC baby backpack, for when she gets a bit older so they can take her hiking, and also be the hip parents you see at farmer's markets and such!
I get to be crazy "auntie" Dan. It's an important role, you know.

Can't help but love Fall.

Katie and I drove around the Cabot Trail, taking a wee chance as she was overdue pregnancy-wise by nearly 10 days. However we all survived and it was a beautiful day to take in the gorgeous scenery and an open house at Gambo Abbey Shambhala Buddhist monastery in Pleasant Bay. What a serene location for meditation.

We stopped to take a few touristy photos along the way. Too bad Geoff doesn't enjoy folk art as much as I do!

Framboise Beach

This beach is supposedly part of the most remote portion of Nova Scotia coastline. I don't understand why it's not more popular, because it's beyond stunning and not too far from CBRM. As you can see, the mutts loved their little adventure.

Mabou Highlands hike, August

Everyone knows about the National Parks in Cape Breton. But, the Mabou Highlands get almost no attention! It's a shame, because it's a pristine area with beautiful views and so many trails you can get yourself majorly lost (which I nearly did!). There are so many lookoffs and beautiful vistas. We hiked about 16 kms, and were pretty tired by the end. It's not a straight-up hike though, there are lots of switch-backs taking you up the mountainside. Raspberries were in season, so we managed to eat quite a few on the way down. You may also catch a glimpse of some "naturalists" from Quebec enjoying some, uh, sun exposure. Sorry for disrupting, guys.

Keji with Katie!

Everyone said Katie shouldn't go camping at six months pregnant. Did she listen? NO! It's Katie! We went to Kejimkujik National Park (my first time there) and had a grand time. We did some hiking, swimming, kayaking, whale watching and a lot of driving around. Really fun times. Would go back in a flash! We also squeezed in a quick stop in Halifax some favorites- MEC, Black Market, Biscuit, and some Thai food!
